L19 - Unique challenges of peptide radiopharmaceuticals CMC in clinical development

Radiopharmaceutical peptides have become a focus point both in academic research and in clinical programs for imaging, therapeutic, or theranostic applications. Their success derives from a combination of a very selective ‘warhead’ peptide with a ‘payload’ tailored for low-background diagnosis and/or localised treatment. However, merging these features into one molecule brings unique challenges for the chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC) arm of clinical development, requiring a tailored approach. This presentation will highlight the unique characteristics of radiopharmaceutical peptides from a chemistry and process development angle and will explore solutions to overcome these hurdles.
