Silicycle

Founded in 1995, SiliCycle® Inc. is specialized in the development, the manufacturing and the commercialization of high value silica gels and specialty products for chromatography, purification and synthesis.

Our business extends to over a hundred countries and our customers portfolio includes companies in the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries, contract research and manufacturing organizations as well as university laboratories, hospital research centers, agriculture and food, environmental, petrochemicals, and industrial process companies.

SiliCycle offers solutions to problems encountered in the peptide research field, either for the peptide synthesis itself or for subsequent work-up.

Peptide synthesis

Several SiliaBond can be used as supported reagents during synthesis (and excess reagents elimination will be reduced to a simple filtration!). For example, SiliaBond Carbodiimide (DCC) and SiliaBond Ethyl Carbodiimide (EDC) are the most commonly used reagents in peptide synthesis and other amide bond-forming reactions.
Furthermore, SiliaBond Piperazine can be used for Fmoc deprotection of peptides in liquid phase.

Work-up after peptide synthesis

SiliaBond Carbonate can be used for amine free basing and HOBt (widely used in amide coupling reactions) scavenging, as well as TFA removal for basic peptides (Appn_SB012-0). Additionally, SiliaBond Cyano  can be useful to remove residual azide (starting material) after a click reaction.

SiliaBond SCX (Tosic Acid) and SiliaBond SCX-2 (Propylsulfonic Acid) have proven to be efficient in SiliaPrep SPE cartridges for amines scavenging (catch and release of weak cations) and TFA removal for acidic peptides (Appn_SP004-0).
SiliaPrep SPE cartridges packed with C18 Widepore (WPD, 125 Å) can be used for trap-elute of relatively polar peptides after cleavage or cysteine oxidation.

Some customers have also demonstrated the efficiency of SiliaSep PREMIUM spherical flash cartridges for peptide purification (
CS_SS002-0) and of SiliaMetS Triamine to remove residual copper after a glycopeptide synthesis by Huisgen reaction (CS_SM014-0).

Finally, SiliaChrom HPLC columns are available in analytical and preparative dimensions (4.6 mm ID up to 50 mm ID), and in a variety of phases, to allow large scale peptide purification. In addition, silica gels are also offered in bulk to allow DAC packing, giving even more options.
